You may have since moved to the Tampa Bay area or recently got involved in beach volleyball here. St. Petersburg is a top volleyball location in Florida, known as the hub of beach volleyball in the state, as well as the nation.
This area is flooded with volleyball players of all levels, mindsets and goals, not to mention the on average, 150 new people that move to the Tampa area per day. Since St. Pete has such an expansive beach volleyball community, many recent movers see the community, want to get involved and begin learning beach volleyball. Luckily, the city has supplied multiple court locations to support the volleyball addiction of the Florida west coast.
Each area of the nation has slightly different levels/lingo used to differentiate skill level for beach volleyball. Here is the Division level guide for Florida, west coast specific.
Levels: Meaning
B: Total beginner
BB: Semi beginner
A: Intermediate
AA: Advanced
AAA: Very advanced
Open: Semi professional (you most likely played college volleyball or are very skilled)
AVP: Professional-Olympic level
